Lincoln County School District students will join Oregon Coast Community College (OCCC) in showcasing the wide range of Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities available in Lincoln County during a community expo on Friday, Feb. 13, at the college’s Newport campus.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at OCCC, 400 S.E. College Way, Newport. Students, families, and community members are invited to attend.
The expo will feature student projects, artwork, live demonstrations, items for sale, and information about local career pathways that connect high school programs to college training and in-demand careers.
Participating Lincoln County School District programs include forestry and forest products, manufacturing, architecture and construction, restaurant, food and beverage service, early childhood education, digital arts, photography, visual communication, and health occupations. Siletz Valley School’s wood shop and culinary programs will also be represented.
OCCC programs featured at the event include nursing and allied health, welding, pre-apprenticeship construction trades, early childhood education, aquarium science, and the Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP!).
Local industry and community partners will also participate, including Georgia-Pacific, Central Lincoln PUD, Samaritan Health Services, Yakona Nature Preserve, Oregon Coast Aquarium, Newport Public Library, Lincoln City Parks & Recreation, Pacific Inside Electrical JATC, WorkSource Oregon, Oregon Coast STEM Hub, and others.
