1st grade students planting seeds in a flower pot

First grade students at Oceanlake Elementary recently took part in a hands-on science lesson that will continue growing in the weeks ahead.

Members of the Lincoln County Master Gardeners, along with the district’s Science Implementation Team, visited Noelle Stoll’s first grade classroom to help students start seeds as part of an ongoing garden project. During the activity, students planted seeds, watered them, and learned how plants grow from seed to seedling.

Over the coming weeks, students will continue to care for and observe the seedlings in their classroom. Once the plants are ready, students will take part in planting them at the Oregon Coast Community College garden, giving them the opportunity to see the full life cycle of plants in action.

Projects like this bring science to life and help students connect classroom learning to real-world experiences through strong community partnerships.
