Waldport High School has earned the inaugural College Access Champion Award from Oregon Goes To College, recognizing the school's outstanding efforts to help students prepare for education and career opportunities after graduation.
Led by GEAR UP Coordinator Jack Boothe, Waldport High School has demonstrated a strong commitment to college and career readiness through senior-year activities, participation in College & Career Exploration Month, and support for students completing federal and state financial aid applications.
"Receiving the first College Champions Award means a lot to our community," Boothe said. "The award is just representation of the hard work put in by both students and staff. The success of the students is a product of their determination and commitment to becoming a better student. Our staff is 100% bought in to the same goal to assist students in pursuing their post-secondary dreams."
GEAR UP plays an important role in helping students explore their options after high school, whether that means attending college, pursuing career training or entering an apprenticeship.
"GEAR UP is really the vehicle that allows these students to become more knowledgeable about their opportunities," Boothe said. "Our staff are the ones that help the students believe in what they can achieve."
As part of the recognition, Waldport High School will receive a College Access Champion banner and badges celebrating its achievements and continued commitment to student success.
Congratulations to Jack Boothe and the entire Waldport High School team for helping students discover opportunities and build a path toward their future goals!
